![]() Mark V rifles are all currently produced in this facility, so if you're buying a new one, it's US made. (I'm no metallurgist, but I did recently stay at a Holiday Inn Express.) Now, after a short stint at Saco, production was moved to Minnesota, I believe (maybe outside Brainerd? I'm not sure - doing this all from memory, so anyone feel free to correct me on factual inaccuracies). These are great pieces, if only because, as I understand it, Saco heat treated and then machined, giving a great piece of finished work without warping from heat treating. Originally, Saco Defense in Saco, Maine, manufactured the rifles. Well, back in the middle nineties (around 1995-1996, I think), Mark V production was moved to the US. Anyway, after a short while, production moved to the Howa facility in Japan (where the Vanguard is still made today, after nearly 40yrs of constant production). I know in Germany, but I'm not sure on the Sauer part. The Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 rifles represent the best value, with an accuracy guarantee, on the. Then he designed the Mark V action and it was made by Sauer in Germany, I believe. 30-06 Sprg, 24', Blued, Griptonite Stock. ![]() Originally, Roy Weatherby converted a variety of actions (mausers, etc.) to shoot his wildcats.
